Castle Air Museum at 5050 Santa Fe Drive, Atwater, California.

My students enjoyed seeing all the planes and respected the stories of the guides. We were divided into a few tour groups, and a couple of the guides were difficult to hear. Also, one tour guide spent a very long time describing the making of one plane and that group of students didn't get to see as many planes as the other group. Overall, I would take a group of teenagers interested in American history back again. (With lots of extra water bottles... there's no shade!) The kids thought it was worth the 2 hour drive!

If you like old planes with no signage, this place is great. There are some rare, magnificent specimen here but even with the $3 brochure it's tough to learn about what you're seeing or why you should care. If you bring an airplane nut with you it's a real treat.

Great Museum, lots of aircrafts! I have been going here since I was a kid, and happy to be able to share the experience with my child. Must visit if you haven't been.

The museum has cool planes, no doubt... but considering they survive on admission fees, the FIRM policy of paying full price when there's only 20 minutes until closing seems outrageous! $1.75/minute ($105/hr), for my daughter and I to enter just wasn't worth it. I guess the lesson here is to plan better and arrive EARLY!!!
